Minutes of June 6, 2019 Meeting

Opening Ceremony: ActingSgt/Arms Chuck Houston opened the meeting at 1845 and opening prayer was given by Chaplain Mike Harnish.  11 Detachment Members were present.  Kudos given to Carol Delbridge for the outstanding meal tonight.  Sr Vice Cmdt Mark Lindsley ran the meeting.

Roll Call of Officers: Cmdt Cody Dumont and Sgt/Arms Bill Kiernan were absent.  Others present.

Applications for Membership: None.

Minutes from Previous Meeting – 5/2/19 Minutes: Minutes were distributed and reviewed by the membership.  Motion made to accept the minutes as presented by Judge Adv Reggie LaClair, seconded by Bob Selig; there was no discussion; motion passed unanimously. 

Correspondence:  

-MCL Auxiliary annual raffle tickets are available for purchase.

-MCJROTC thank you letter was read or our financial support for their D.C. trip.

Paymaster Report: Report was distributed and reviewed. Motion made to accept the report as presented by LaClair, duly seconded by Jr Vice Cmdt Dave Winters.  There was no discussion; motion passed unanimously.  No reimbursement requests were submitted. 

Sick and In Distress:

-Bill Kiernan – still doesn’t have all clear from doctor.

-Roland MacLaren – Doesn’t have strength to come to meetings.

-Charlie Frye – Fell recently and his girlfriend having health issues and is on oxygen.

Report of Officers:

Armorer – M-1 Repair Status:  Lindsley briefed past expenses.  He still needs to strip the stocks, but needs to purchase linseed oil and some patches.

– June 20-22 (Thurs-Sat) – Market Days, Main St, Concord (dunk tank & booth): Westover reserved dunk tank – Winters will pick it up.  Members volunteered to help in the booth and dunk tank.  Winters will bring costumes for the dunk tank.

– Jun 23 (Sun) 11 AM Dept NH Quarterly Meeting & Growl, American Legion, 7 Perley St, Concord: All are invited and encouraged to attend.

– July 4 (Thurs) Andover Parade (booth and color guard): Winters, Westover, Fedor volunteered for color guard.

– July 13 (Sat) – Pittsfield Old Home Day (parade and booth): Winters, Heichlinger, Fedor volunteered for color guard, and possibly Harnish.

– July 21 (Sun), 10:30 AM, Breakfast Social at Gilmanton Winery.  LaClair will make reservations, but will need a head count the week prior.

– Aug 10 (Sat) – Poolee Picnic:  Odell Park in Franklin – ALL HANDS for this family fun day for “Old Dogs and New Pups” event – Field Day events, Cook out, Set up of tables, chairs, tents, etc. Verify that Sunny reserved the park.

– Aug 17 (Sat) – Salute Troops Car Show. Location unknown – Cmdt to provide info.

            Also need info on the Tilton Vet Home car show.

– Aug 30-Sept 2 (Fri-Mon) – Hopkinton Fair: Booth selling shirts and recruiting, 7AM-10PM: Linda willing to help that weekend.

– Sep 7 (Sat) 9-5 & Sep 8 (Sun) 9-2, Concord Gun Show @ Everett Arena: sell raffle tickets.

– Sept 26-29 (Thurs – Sun) – Deerfield Fair: Booth selling shirts and recruiting.

Recent Events – after action reports:

– May 19 Breakfast Social, Gilmanton Winery & Vineyard: went very well, 7 attended.

– May 18 Flags on veterans’ graves at Bow Cemeteries. Westover supervised the Bow Scouts. 

– May (Prior to Memorial Day) – Replace the USMC and American Flags at the two monuments in Concord (across street from Abbot-Downing School on South St, and near new Court House Court St): Chuck Houston replaced both and purchased a flag holder – his donation.

– May 27 Concord Memorial Day Parade (float & color guard): Good job by all who helped.

– May 27 Bow Memorial Day Ceremony (Rifle Salute Detail): Detail did an outstanding job.

Pending Activities: Recruiting Dinner at locations outside Concord area: Nothing scheduled.

Remington Raffle Fundraiser Committee: LaClair provided $200 in sales at Marshall’s. 

Unfinished Business

-Trailer / Float modifications: Pending.

-Marines Fighting Hunger food drive: Any funds collected in the “Green Ammo Bucket” at upcoming events will be used for this and given to a local food pantry. 

New Business: None.

Good of the League:  

-75th Anniversary of D-Day: Linda brought in prints for our viewing pleasure.

-Next Month’s Meal- July Date TBD: Scheduled for 4th but the Board of Trustees to decide on a date and notify the membership.

-Helping Sick/Distressed Marines: Winters volunteered to help any within NH and will bring this up at the next Department meeting. 

Announcements:

-Westover to check on recent change requiring Marines to sing the Marines’ Hymn when heard.

Closing Ceremony conducted; next meeting July [11], 2019, The meeting closed at 1945.
