Minutes of March 7, 2019 Meeting

Opening Ceremony: Sgt/Arms Bill Kiernan opened the meeting at 1841 and opening prayer was given by Chaplain Mike Harnish.  14 Detachment Members and two guests were present. 

Roll Call of Officers: Jr Vice Cmdt Winters was absent.  All others present.

Applications for Membership: None.

Minutes from Previous Meeting – 2/7/19 Minutes: Minutes were distributed and reviewed by the membership.  Motion made to accept the minutes as presented by Kiernan, seconded by Judge Advocate LaClair; there was no discussion; motion passed unanimously. 

Correspondence:  

-Cmdt Cody Dumont reminded Members to register for the upcoming Quad State Convention / New England Conference.  He offered his room cost, which the Det normally covers, to any Dillon Det Member that may need assistance with the costs. 

Paymaster Report: Report was distributed and reviewed. Motion made to accept the report as presented by Kiernan, duly seconded by LaClair.  Liz Shaw noted a type-o; there was no further discussion; motion passed unanimously.  

Mark Lindsley will be submitting his receipt for the Concord Gun Show table for $75. 

Sick and In Distress: Ray De Corse was in a car accident and his injuries have now required him to move in with his son in NY.  Cmdt will provide the Chaplain with his address to send him a card.

Report of Officers:

Armorer – M-1 Repair Status:  Lindsley reported that he needs to order 6 Danish BFAs [blank firing attachments] and leather slings.  Cmdt reminded him that funds have already been allocated and to go ahead and purchase what’s needed.

Cmdt welcomed our guests, former League Member Sean Heichlinger and Marine Kevin Partington, who may be interested in joining the Detachment.

Upcoming Events:

Mar 17 (Sun) 10:30 AM Breakfast Social, Appleseed restaurant, Bradford.– All are encouraged to attend this strictly social event.   

August – Poolee picnic: Old Dogs and New Pups, more info coming soon.

b)   Remington Raffle Fundraiser Committee: Lindsley reported the raffle tickets are in, invoice has not yet been received.  The table at the April Concord Gun Show has been reserved.   

Unfinished Business

-Trailer / Float modifications: Repairs tabled until April.  After some discussion LaClair made a motion to approve spending up to $300 for materials, seconded by Liz Shaw; there was no further discussion; motion passed unanimously. 

-Marines Fighting Hunger food drive: Tabled until spring.

-MCJROTC Washington DC Trip Donation: Westover read the email from the OIC and the estimated cost to send one cadet.  Motion made by LaClair to donate $350, the approximate cost for one student, to the Winnicunnet MCJROTC for the Washington DC trip, seconded by Kiernan.  They have requested that the donation be made online.  Westover offered to use his credit card and get reimbursed – all agreed this was acceptable; motion passed unanimously. 

-Concord Market Days, Deerfield Fair, and Hopkinton Fair Budget: Discussion focused on previous costs; Deerfield & Concord were $975 last year, Hopkinton ~$550, various Old Home Days around $20 each.  At the fairs, t-shirts are sold at no risk to the Det and get 30% of the sales.  Cmdt asked for an approved budget for all expenses.  Motion made by LaClair to authorize up to $1,800 for the expenses for the Concord Market Days, Deerfield and Hopkinton Fairs and the various Old Home Days, seconded by Liz Shaw.  There was no further discussion; motion passed unanimously. 

New Business:

– Color Guard for Quad State Convention needed: Westover, Lindsley, Harnish, LaClair, and Dumont all volunteered to provide a Color Guard for whatever events they would be needed. 

– Volunteer activities at the New Hampshire Veterans Home: Various events need volunteers, the events and dates were discussed and some Members may volunteer on their own.

Good of the League:  

-Awards: Dan Fedor (left) was presented with his Membership pin, and Reggie LaClair was presented with his Life Membership pin.

-Next Month’s Meal-3/7/19: LaClair offered to bring next month’s meal and Liz Shaw volunteered to bring dessert. 

-Lidsley, with the permission of the Cmdt, read a poem that brought a smile to the faces of all in attendance.
