Minutes of February 1, 2018 Meeting

  • Opening Ceremony: Sgt/Arms Bill Kiernan opened the meeting at 1845 and opening prayer was given by Chaplain Mike Harnish. 11 Detachment Members and one prospective member were present.
  • Roll Call of Officers: Cmdt Cody Dumont was excused. All other officers were present. Sr Vice Cmdt Michael Standafer took charge the meeting.
  • Applications for Membership: Judge Advocate LeClair introduced a prospective member – Chuck Houston. Chuck introduced himself and said that he would attend the meeting and then decide whether to join.
  • Minutes from Previous Meeting – 1/11/18 Minutes: Minutes were distributed and reviewed by the membership. Motion made to accept the minutes as presented by Kiernan, duly seconded by Joe Shea; there was no discussion; motion passed unanimously. 
  • Correspondence:
    • Dept of NH Cmdt E-mails: 1) National’s Dues are reduced from March through August from $20 to $15. 2) Dept of NH Quarterly Meeting for Jan 14th was cancelled. 3) MODD (Devil Dogs) meeting for elections will be Feb 18th.
    • Donations received.
      • Cmdt Dumont donated his purchase of an officer’s EGA for Jack Hachez’s funeral ($45.99) and food and items for the Jan 13th Poolee event ($112.10), both to be credited to the Poolee Function designated funds.
      • We received another anonymous $100 donation to the Poolee Function fund.
  • Paymaster Report: Report was distributed and reviewed. Adj/Paymaster Westover briefed the report.  Motion made to accept the report as presented by LaClair, duly seconded by Harnish.  There was no discussion; motion passed.
  • Sick and In Distress: Ray DeCorse doing better, stopped by before the meeting and paid his dues, but couldn’t stay due to another commitment.
  • Report of Officers:
    1. Recent Events:
      1. Jan 13th Poolee event – provided lunch. David Winters and Jr Vice Cmdt Mark Lindsley reported that it went well, was motivating and educational.  Poolees were very thankful.
      2. Jan 28th breakfast at the Appleseed in Bradford. Lindsley reported that six Members attended and enjoyed the buffet and camaraderie.  Another patron of the restaurant generously paid for their meals.

        • Feb ???? (Sun) 10:30 AM: breakfast at the Appleseed restaurant. Tabled.

        • TBD – Recruiting Dinner at locations outside Concord area. Tabled
      3. AR-15A2 Fundraiser Committee – Status Report –Lindsey explained the legal aspect of the fundraiser; another $40 collected in ticket sales; 261 tickets still to be sold; next gun show is at the Everett Arena in Concord in the May-June timeframe.
  • Unfinished Business
    1. Detachment Shirts (Undelivered shirts): Ray DeCorse’s shirt is final one to be delivered and paid for.
    2. Registration of trailer – Status Report: Westover reported that the trailer is registered in his and the Detachments names. Registration through August was $18.
    3. Membership Roster. Copies were provided to Members in attendance.
    4. Detachment Members Annual Dues Reminders. Cmdt pland to contact/visit those who are past due on their dues.
    5. Cmdt’s reimbursement for officer EGA given at “Jack” Hachez’s funeral. Discussed above.
    6. Quartermaster report of awards, etc. on hand by the Adjutant. Bill Kiernan volunteered to be the Quartermaster.  Any Member currently holding any Detachment owned item is to report it to the Quartermaster.

New Business

  1. Installation of Detachment Officers: Sr Vice Cmdt Michael Standafer was installed by Past Cmdt Westover.  All officer have now been installed.
  • Good of the League
    Bud Durling, center, receiving award.
    1. Awards: Bud Durling was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his funeral support and photography.
    2. Next Month’s Meeting & Meal – 3/1/18: LeClair offered to bring the meal and David Winters offered will provide dessert again.
    3. Kiernan offered his services to provide rides to and Members in the Penacook area to and from meetings. Other Members offered the same service.  Adjutant to inform the Membership of this offer.
  • Announcements
    1. Mar 25th – Department of NH Meeting (1100) & Growl (1400) @ American Legion, Concord
    2. April 20th -22nd – 2018 Quad State Convention in Burlington, VT – Registration forms are available online or with the Adjutant.
  • Closing Ceremony conducted; next meeting March 1, 2018. The meeting closed at 1925.
